Before we boarded the Norwegian Pearl for our cruise to Alaska, we spent an overnight in Seattle at The Edgewater Hotel located less than a quarter of a mile from Pier 66.
Our experience couldn't have been more pleasant. The customer service of all the people we came in contact with - from the people working the front desk to the bartender in their on-site restaurant, Six•Seven, to the person who brought up our room service - was excellent. They made your overall satisfaction top priority.
The room itself was a nice size, with a queen bed sitting in the center of the room. A fireplace (which I assume is functional in the winter months) sat a corner of the room. The bathroom was spacious with an excellent shower. Don't be fooled in thinking that the snacks by your bed are there to greet you...it's part of their mini-bar, and you will pay through the nose for these items. The room we had was listed as having a "City View" which I think is a stretch: the room had a view of some wood beams in the front-center of the hotel. We were located in room 245, so perhaps a room higher up actually gives you a view of the city. From what we gather, the view of the bay is amazing, and would be the room you would want to have if your budget allows. As this was a one-night stop, and we were going to be spending our week on a boat, we decided to forego the bay view to save some dollars.
The on-site restaurant & bar was very nice, with some decent options for bar fare. The front desk knew that it was my wife's birthday and gave us a card entitling us to one round of drinks, which was a very nice gesture and one which we certainly took advantage of after our long flight. Live music filled the room within moments of us being seated at the bar. Again, a great experience.
As for room service: you can never be sure how this will turn out, but our breakfast in bed did exceed expectations and was definitely one of the better room service breakfasts we've had.
Overall, we think The Edgewater Hotel is an excellent option when coming to Seattle for either a cruise or to stay. As we were only here for one night and we didn't spend much time in the immediate area, it's difficult to say whether this is a good location if you are only coming to visit Seattle. And, while the rooms are pricey, if you can afford a view of the bay, you will be blown away by the customer service, views, and food. Kudos.
